SDI’s tail flick analgesia meter not only delivers highly consistent and accurate results, but speeds up your throughput using interchangeable restraints, which allow you to prep one animal while testing another. Once responses are received, your data will be available on a digital display for to-the-minute analysis.
The SDI tail flick analgesia meter reliably measures pain sensitivity in mice and rats using an easily reproducible pain source. The system works by applying heat to a small area of the animal’s tail, then measuring the “tail flick” response.
When the animal’s tail is placed under the heat source, a foot switch activates an intense light beam to heat the tail at a reliable, reproducible rate. The timer will stop automatically when the rat or mouse indicates discomfort by flicking its tail. Prepare an animal for testing while one is already in progress using the system’s interchangeable animal restrainers—which will greatly speed up your throughput.
Your reaction time data is automatically calculated and viewable on a digital display for to the minute analysis. Additionally, you can use the SeDaCom software to automatically transfer the results to a PC for further analysis.
