The SDI hotplate analgesia meter performs rapid, precise screening of analgesic drugs. Using a hotplate method, the Meter evaluates the reaction time of mice (or rats).

The hotplate analgesia meter works by placing the animal on a heated surface and monitoring when they raise a paw. When you administer a central analgesic, the animal’s reaction time is markedly increased.

You can quickly start or stop the hotplate analgesia test with a foot switch—and read the time from the display. If you use the SeDaCom software, your trial number, plate temperature and reaction time are sent to a PC.
